PM Abiy Ahmed Inaugurates Logo Hayk Resort in South Wollo Zone of Amhara Region

Addis Ababa, February 7, 2026 (FMC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today inaugurated the Logo Hayk Resort, a major tourism and hospitality development located in South Wollo Zone of Ethiopia’s Amhara regional state, describing the project as both an economic catalyst and a platform for cultural exchange.

The resort, developed under the Dine for Generations initiative, spans 13.3 hectares and was initiated in June 2024 during the national Green Legacy planting campaign. It integrates modern, world-class hospitality infrastructure with the natural landscape of the Wollo area, featuring hotel and resort facilities, restaurants, swimming pools, conference and event halls, internal asphalt roads, landscaped green spaces, fruit zones, and a helicopter landing pad.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister said the project was designed to go beyond its physical presence, emphasizing that it is intended to contribute to both local and national economic transformation. He stated that the resort will generate direct and indirect employment, stimulate value chains across agriculture, transport, hospitality, and service sectors, and create new market opportunities for local producers, artisans, and entrepreneurs.

Abiy noted that Logo Hayk Resort is the second Dine tourism project in the Amhara region, following Gorgora, and said it strengthens tourism-led growth while anchoring sustainable livelihoods for surrounding communities.

The Prime Minister further said the project reflects the Medemer spirit, explaining that it brings government and the private sector to the same table, translating policy into concrete action and investment into tangible impact. He added that developing the resort through a collaborative model lays a durable foundation for public–private partnership, policy continuity, and long-term growth.

Abiy also underscored that the project demonstrates Ethiopia’s practical commitment to becoming a leading tourist destination in Africa, noting that it integrates tourism development with environmental conservation, sustainability, and social inclusivity.

Above all, the Prime Minister said the resort stands as an open invitation to the people of Wollo to share their heritage, culture, values, and hospitality with visitors from Ethiopia and around the world.
