Addis Ababa, May 11, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed welcomed International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva for talks in Addis Ababa this morning, where the two sides discussed Ethiopia’s economic progress, partnership, and shared priorities.
In a social media post shared following the meeting, the Prime Minister said he exchanged views with the IMF chief on key economic issues and ongoing cooperation.
Prime Minister Abiy also expressed appreciation for what he described as an “insightful conversation” and the IMF Managing Director’s continued engagement.
The discussions come as Ethiopia continues implementing broad economic reform measures in collaboration with international financial institutions, including the IMF.
