PM Abiy Ahmed to Present Comprehensive Government Performance Review Before Parliament Today

Addis Ababa, July 7, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister is expected to present a comprehensive review of the federal government’s performance for the 2018 E.C. (2025/26 fiscal year) before the House of Peoples’ Representatives (HoPR) today, as lawmakers convene for the House’s 30th regular sitting of the fifth year of its tenure.

The Prime Minister is also expected to respond to questions from members of parliament on the government’s performance across key national sectors, including the economy, governance, social development, infrastructure, peace and security, foreign affairs, and other strategic priorities.

The parliamentary session will provide lawmakers with an opportunity to scrutinize the implementation of the 2018 E.C. budget and assess the federal government’s overall performance during the fiscal year, while also seeking clarifications on major policy issues and priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.

During the sitting, the House is also scheduled to deliberate on the report and recommendations of the Standing Committee on Planning, Budget and Finance regarding the draft 2019 E.C. (2026/27 fiscal year) federal budget before voting on the budget proclamation.

Invited guests, including ambassadors accredited to Ethiopia, representatives of international organizations, religious leaders, and leaders of legally registered political parties, are expected to attend the session.

The sitting is scheduled to commence at 8:30 a.m.
