Addis Ababa, July 14, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has called on fellow citizens to actively engage in the upcoming National Dialogue process, describing it as a historic opportunity to open a new chapter in the country’s journey toward lasting peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
In a message shared on social media today, the Prime Minister said the commencement of the National Dialogue process goes beyond being a conventional political forum, noting that it represents a defining moment that could shape the future of Ethiopia and generations to come.
He urged Ethiopians committed to peace, stability, and national development to seize the opportunity to contribute to the dialogue process, stressing that the time has come for collective responsibility in addressing the country’s challenges.
The Prime Minister drew parallels between the current moment and the historic Battle of Adwa, stating that while Ethiopians of the past defended the country’s freedom, sovereignty, and dignity through sacrifice, today’s generation is called upon to serve the nation through peaceful means, wisdom, knowledge, and constructive engagement.
He emphasized that Ethiopia’s present call is not for those who take up arms, but for champions of peace who can contribute through dialogue, truth, maturity of thought, and determination.
Prime Minister Abiy further stated that Ethiopia can overcome its challenges through civilized discourse, peaceful dialogue, and national consensus, expressing confidence that the country and its people will advance toward a future of prosperity.
