Addis Ababa, March 14, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed concluded his working visit to the United Arab Emirates today and returned to Ethiopia this afternoon, his office announced.
During the visit to the UAE, the Prime Minister met with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, where they discussed strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two nations, expanding cooperation, and advancing regional stability. In a social media post, Abiy described the engagement as reflecting a “brotherhood undeterred, a partnership rooted in trust” and expressed appreciation for the warm reception.
PM Abiy also held discussions with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, focusing on the strong ties between the peoples of Ethiopia and Dubai in business, education, and culture. He described the meeting with the Vice President as a pleasure and expressed anticipation of returning to Dubai, calling the city “strong, beautiful and resilient.”
The visit underscores Ethiopia’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with the UAE and the shared commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral relations across key sectors.
