Addis Ababa, November 22, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held high-level bilateral discussions with key global leaders on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit 2025 in Johannesburg, focusing on development financing, trade cooperation, and food security.
The Ethiopian leader conferred with Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, reviewing the Bank’s ongoing support to Ethiopia, including financing for major development projects in health, energy, and climate.
Prime Minister Abiy described the engagement as an important opportunity to strengthen Ethiopia’s partnership with the World Bank.
In another meeting, Prime Minister Abiy held discussions with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka of Indonesia, exploring ways to deepen cooperation on trade and agricultural modernization, with a particular emphasis on food sovereignty — a priority shared by both countries.
Participation in the G20 Summit has allowed Prime Minister Abiy to engage extensively with leaders of major economies and multilateral institutions, highlighting Ethiopia’s reform agenda, economic opening, and strategic development priorities while advancing partnerships that support sustainable growth.
