Addis Ababa, October 29, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has reaffirmed that Ethiopia’s true transformation depends on its own efforts, not external assistance.
During his visit to East Shewa Zone, Oromia Region, today, the Prime Minister reviewed the performance of the rainy season wheat harvest and officially launched the summer wheat production campaign in the area.
He also inspected the progress of banana, papaya, and fish cluster developments, which form part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen agricultural diversification and productivity.
Prime Minister Abiy noted that while traditional farming practices still exist, the growing adoption of mechanized farming in the area has significantly enhanced efficiency and output.
In a message posted to his social media pages after the visit, the Premier underlined that the continuous year-to-year improvements in agricultural productivity demonstrate Ethiopia’s steady progress toward self-sufficiency.
Reflecting on the nation’s past, the Premier observed that had modern farming methods been adopted earlier, Ethiopia’s agricultural outcomes would have been vastly different.
He emphasized that no external help is coming, adding that the country’s lasting transformation will be achieved through the dedication, innovation, and hard work of Ethiopians themselves.
