Addis Ababa, November 22, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed met with the new President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, on the sidelines of the ongoing G20 Leaders Summit 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The leaders exchanged views on Africa’s economic development and discussed the Bank’s role in fostering inclusive growth and creating opportunities across the continent.
In a post on his official social media page, Prime Minister Abiy emphasized that the discussion underscored the AfDB’s continued importance in advancing sustainable development and expanding economic opportunities throughout Africa.
Prime Minister Abiy is participating in the G20 Summit to engage with world leaders on global economic challenges and Africa’s role in international trade and investment.
In his remarks at the summit, he highlighted the need for stronger international support for African economies, focusing on inclusive growth, infrastructure development, and youth employment, while emphasizing Africa’s potential to drive global economic recovery through coordinated regional efforts.
