PM Abiy Holds Talks with AUC Chairperson on Ethiopia-AU Collaboration for COP 32

Addis Ababa, December 17, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held discussions this afternoon with African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and his team on strengthening cooperation between Ethiopia and the AU in preparation for COP 32.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of close collaboration to ensure the conference is a success that reflects African priorities.

In a message shared on his social media pages, PM Abiy expressed satisfaction with the AU’s commitment, under Chairperson Youssouf’s leadership, to act as a key partner in supporting Ethiopia’s efforts for a “truly African COP.”

Officials described the discussions as part of Ethiopia’s broader initiative to position the continent at the forefront of global climate action and to advance Africa-led solutions in international climate negotiations.
