Addis Ababa, September 7, 2025 (FMC) — On the sidelines of the second Africa-CARICOM Summit at the African Union Headquarters, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a bilateral meeting with President João Lourenço of Angola, who currently serves as Chair of the African Union.
PM Abiy said the discussion focused on shared interests between Ethiopia and Angola as well as broader regional matters.
“Our mutual commitment to continental progress remains firm,” he noted, highlighting the continued cooperation between the two countries in advancing Africa’s development agenda.
The meeting underscores ongoing efforts by African leaders to strengthen continental collaboration, particularly through the African Union framework, and to ensure alignment on regional priorities in trade, security, and sustainable development.
The bilateral dialogue comes as the Africa-CARICOM Summit gathers leaders from Africa and the Caribbean to deepen cooperation on trade, climate action, and sustainable development, coinciding with ongoing global climate events hosted in Addis Ababa.
