Addis Ababa, October 31, 2026 (FMC) — Realizing Ethiopia’s ambition to build a civilization requires a comprehensive national effort that brings together a shared vision, coordinated action, effective use of national capabilities, and accountable governance, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has stated.
In a social media post after reviewing the ongoing training of senior Medemer Government officials at the Hurso military training center and joining them in the exercises, PM Abiy emphasized that Ethiopia’s pursuit of comprehensive prosperity must extend beyond material advancement to encompass spiritual well-being, cultural development, and moral values.
He explained that translating this vision into reality requires a common understanding of national priorities and the ability to mobilize society continuously around shared objectives. Effective use of the country’s environment and resources, he added, is equally important to advancing the country’s strategic ambitions.
PM Abiy placed particular emphasis on ensuring that government structures, from the lowest administrative levels to the highest, work in coordination toward national objectives. Such alignment, he indicated, is essential to translating the country’s broader vision into practical achievements.
He also underscored the responsibility of government leaders to serve as trustees of the nation, fulfill commitments made to citizens, and ensure that public responsibilities are discharged with accountability and effectiveness.
PM Abiy further identified building a resilient country that cannot be intimidated, nurturing future generations, and safeguarding national security at all times as integral elements of the Medemer civilization’s grand strategy.
These priorities, he explained, require sustained commitment and coordinated execution across the country’s institutions and society, ensuring that national objectives are understood and pursued at every level.
The Prime Minister also drew attention to the importance of collective responsibility in achieving shared goals, stressing that national success depends on bringing different roles and disciplines together in pursuit of a common purpose.
He concluded that Ethiopia’s civilizational ambition calls for a generation capable of translating its national vision into action, achieving defined targets, and advancing broader objectives.
