PM Abiy underscores Dire Dawa corridor development’s impact on urban livability and local economy

Addis Ababa, March 9, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said the corridor development project underway in Dire Dawa is enabling the creation of comfortable public recreation areas, improved environmental aesthetics, and well-maintained community gathering spaces.

The Prime Minister, who is visiting Dire Dawa city, shared the message on his social media pages after observing development activities in the city.

“Dire’s corridor development project is enabling the realization of comfortable public recreation areas, improved environmental aesthetics, and well-maintained community gathering spaces in Dire,” PM Abiy wrote.

“The corridor also includes electric vehicle charging stations, shops, cafeterias, and properly standardized parking areas, creating opportunities for residents of the city to generate income,” he added.
