Addis Ababa, June 25, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) stated that Ethiopia is now home to the strongest and most capable security institutions in its history, describing this progress as a defining feature of the country’s ongoing institutional transformation.
During a recent engagement with public and private media professionals, the Prime Minister reflected on the structural changes and institutional advancements made in recent years, particularly within the national security sector. He acknowledged that while certain challenges and gaps remain, the current security framework represents an unprecedented level of institutional development in the country.
He attributed this progress to a deliberate effort to modernize, integrate, and professionalize the sector as part of broader reforms aimed at ensuring national sovereignty, stability, and long-term peace. According to the Prime Minister, the strength of these institutions underpins Ethiopia’s path toward prosperity and its ability to safeguard its national interest in an increasingly complex regional and global security environment.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that hope and resilience remain central to the country’s journey. In this context, he called on all sectors — including the media — to contribute constructively to the national agenda and to support Ethiopia’s efforts to strengthen state institutions, including those tasked with protecting the nation.
The remarks form part of the government’s wider message that institutional strength — particularly in areas like security, governance, and development — is essential for the country’s continued progress.
