Addis Ababa, April 26, 2025 (FMC) — In a major step toward modernizing public service delivery, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today inaugurated the Mesob One-Stop Service Center in Addis Ababa, alongside senior federal and regional officials.
The Center aims to ease service administration by consolidating multiple government services under one roof, powered by advanced digital technologies.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the initiative eliminates the need for citizens to visit different offices, stand in long queues, or manage time-consuming paperwork, offering a fully digital, streamlined system instead.
Twelve federal institutions have joined the pilot phase, now operational, delivering 41 essential public services — including licensing, digital ID registration, and more — from a single location.
The participating agencies are:
National ID Ethiopia
Immigration and Citizenship Service
Document Authentication and Registration Service
Ministry of Revenue
Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration
Ministry of Labour and Skills
Ethiopian Investment Commission
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Educational Assessment and Examination Service
Ethio Post
Commercial Bank of Ethiopia
Ethio Telecom
Each institution also offers integrated digital connectivity to ensure seamless service access.
After touring the facility, Prime Minister Abiy stressed the importance of tackling inefficiencies in service administration.
“Addressing the areas that cause frustration for our citizens in service administration is a priority for us. Today, we inaugurated the Mesob One-Stop Service Center as part of this commitment,” he said.
The Premier pointed to three defining aspects of the Center: the transformation of an outdated building into a modern, attractive environment; the use of locally developed software to unify services; and the training of young professionals to deliver dignified, customer-centered service.
“Twelve institutions have begun offering 40 different services under one roof, enabling citizens to save time and access services more efficiently,” he mentioned.
He further emphasized, “Developing systems like this addresses many of the frustrations our citizens face and, over time, will contribute to greater public satisfaction. Today marks a significant step, and Ethiopia will continue to expand on this pilot to ensure better service delivery for all our citizens.”
