Addis Ababa, February 12, 2026 (FMC) – The President of the Republic of Angola and Chairperson of the African Union, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, arrived in Addis Ababa to participate in the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, President Lourenço was warmly received by Ethiopia’s Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye.
Angola currently holds the African Union Chairmanship for 2025, and President Lourenço’s participation in the summit comes as the Union prepares for the transition to its next rotating chair during the session.
