Addis Ababa, September 10, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selassie has extended New Year greetings to Ethiopians as the country prepares to welcome 2019 Ethiopian Calendar, expressing hope that the new year will consolidate a brighter journey founded on forgiveness and dialogue.
In a New Year message posted on his X page, the President wished Ethiopians a peaceful arrival into 2019, saying he hoped the new year would be one in which the country strengthens the promising journey it has begun through forgiveness and consultation.
He further expressed hope that Ethiopians would move forward by putting Ethiopia first and following a righteous path, making the new year a time of peace, love, unity and success.
The message comes as #Ethiopia reaches the final day of Pagume and stands on the threshold of the 2019 Ethiopian Calendar, marking the transition from a year of reflection toward a new year of renewed aspirations.
