Addis Ababa, October 5, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selassie has congratulated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on his re-election for another five-year term, expressing his hope for a successful and productive new term in service of Ethiopia.
“Ethiopia’s vision flourishes and becomes firmly established when it is guided by thinking minds and working hands,” President Taye said in a message shared on social media.
The President expressed his happiness over Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s re-election as Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
He wished the Prime Minister a successful and fruitful term of office as he continues serving Ethiopia, describing the country as a historic nation.
President Taye Atske-Selassie was also present as Ethiopia’s newly elected Parliament convened for its inaugural sessions, separately opening the first sessions of both the House of Peoples’ Representatives and the House of Federation for the new parliamentary term.
