Addis Ababa, September 22, 2025 (FMC) – Th FDRE President Taye Atske-Selassie is leading a high-level Ethiopian delegation in New York to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly (UNGA 80).
The delegation, which includes State Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Hadera Abera and representatives from key national institutions, has commenced its engagement in the Assembly under this year’s theme, “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights.”
Ethiopia is expected to play an active role in discussions that protect its national interests while advancing the broader priorities of the African continent.
Alongside participation in the main sessions, the delegation will hold bilateral and multilateral meetings aimed at strengthening the country’s diplomatic and strategic objectives.
The 80th anniversary of the UN arrives at a time when the global community faces diverse challenges to peace and security, highlighting the need for greater cooperation among member states to build a more peaceful, just, and prosperous world.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Ethiopia’s delegation will maintain a strong presence throughout the Assembly, ensuring the country’s voice is central in key regional and global deliberations.
