President Taye participating in U.S.–Africa Business Summit in Luanda

Addis Ababa, June 23, 2025 (FMC) — African heads of state and government have gathered in Luanda, Angola, for the U.S.–Africa Business Summit, which officially opened this morning.

The FDRE President Taye Atske-Selassie is among the participating leaders at this year’s summit, having arrived in Luanda on Sunday at the head of a high-level Ethiopian delegation. The delegation was warmly received by senior Angolan government officials upon arrival.

This year’s summit comes at a pivotal moment, as the United States recalibrates its policy toward Africa — shifting from a primarily aid-based approach to one focused on investment, infrastructure, and commercial partnerships, in line with the “America First” foreign policy of the Donald Trump administration.

Organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) in partnership with the Government of Angola, the summit has drawn more than 1,500 delegates, including African leaders, ministers, senior U.S. and African officials, and top business executives.

President Taye is scheduled to deliver a keynote address and hold bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the summit. Other members of the Ethiopian delegation are expected to take part in panel discussions and key sessions throughout the event.
