Addis Ababa, February 25, 2026 (FMC) — President Taye Atske-Selassie held discussions today with President of Israel Isaac Herzog following their meeting in Addis Ababa.
In a social media post after the talks, President Taye stated that the two sides discussed the historical and cultural ties between Ethiopia and Israel.
He emphasized that the Bete-Israel community serves as a living bridge between the two countries.
The President also reaffirmed Ethiopia’s consistent support for the two-state solution, where Israelis and Palestinians live side by side in peace.
For his part, Israeli President Isaac Herzog thanked President Taye Atske-Selassie for the warm welcome extended to him in Ethiopia and expressed hope to host him for a reciprocal visit to Israel.
“Israel and Ethiopia share a deep bond, strengthened by the Ethiopian Jewish community, which serves as an important bridge between our peoples,” President Herzog stated.
He added that the two leaders discussed various issues of mutual interest and agreed to continue working together to build on the historic ties and friendship between their two nations.
