Prosperity Party, CPC Pledge Deeper Strategic Cooperation as Ethiopia, China Expand People-to-People Ties

Addis Ababa, June 30, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia and China have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and expanding people-to-people engagement, as senior officials from the two countries pledged to further strengthen ties between the Prosperity Party and the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Adem Farah, Vice President of the Prosperity Party and Head of the Coordination Center for Democracy and Development with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister, made the remarks during talks with Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai at his office on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Ambassador Chen conveyed a congratulatory message from the Communist Party of China on the successful conclusion of Ethiopia’s 7th General Election and the Prosperity Party’s electoral victory.

In its message, the CPC expressed confidence that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), Ethiopia will continue to advance peace and stability, strengthen national unity, and achieve comprehensive prosperity.

The Chinese party stated that the election outcome reflects the confidence of the Ethiopian people in the Prosperity Party and expressed its belief that the party will continue leading the country’s efforts to transform Ethiopia into a model nation.

Reaffirming its longstanding partnership with Ethiopia, the CPC also pledged to continue implementing the agreements reached between the two parties and to further consolidate their enduring strategic partnership in support of the development aspirations of both countries.

Adem Farah underscored the Prosperity Party’s commitment to strengthening not only inter-party cooperation with the Communist Party of China but also broader government-to-government and people-to-people relations between Ethiopia and China.

He noted that the two parties have achieved tangible results by pursuing development approaches rooted in their respective indigenous experiences and commended China’s continued comprehensive support across multiple sectors. He also expressed appreciation for the close cooperation maintained on a wide range of shared priorities.

For his part, Ambassador Chen praised the progress Ethiopia has registered under the leadership of the Prosperity Party, particularly through the country’s Medemer philosophy of synergy and collective development.

He noted that Chinese investment in Ethiopia continues to expand, with investors increasingly engaged in key sectors including mining, manufacturing, industrial parks, services, artificial intelligence, and construction.

The two sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming their shared commitment to building on the achievements already registered and further strengthening cooperation and relations between the Prosperity Party and the Communist Party of China, while advancing the broader Ethiopia-China partnership.
