Addis Ababa, May 26, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Temesgen Tiruneh, has said that the ruling Prosperity Party is transforming Ethiopia into a “model nation of progress, resilience, and hope,” as nationwide campaign rallies continue across the country ahead of the 7th general elections.
In a message shared on his official social media page following his participation in a rally in Bahir Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the city stands as one of the clearest symbols of this transformation and reflects the broader development trajectory underway across the country.
He noted that Bahir Dar witnessed a strong show of support for the Prosperity Party and the future it is building together with the public during the day’s rally.
He emphasized that in Bahir Dar, prosperity is not merely a concept discussed in political terms, but a reality that is “seen, lived, and experienced every day,” reflected in the confidence of the youth, the energy of the city, and the ongoing changes across the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister cited several development projects as evidence of this transformation, including the new Blue Nile Bridge, modern corridor developments, an international stadium, expanded airport terminal facilities, eco-resorts, and growing industrial investments.
Mr. Temesgen described these as tangible results of vision, determination, and collective national effort.
He further stated that the Amhara region is going through a defining era that has challenged outdated perceptions, restored dignity, and reaffirmed its role in Ethiopia’s national development journey.
While acknowledging existing challenges, he stressed that unity, strength, and collective resolve remain stronger, adding that Ethiopia’s progress depends on shared commitment and cooperation among its people.
Reiterating the Prosperity Party’s vision, he said it seeks to build an Ethiopia where all citizens rise together, where every community is respected, and where the Amhara people stand proudly within a united and prosperous nation.
He added that Ethiopia’s future has always been shaped by those who believe in its promise rather than those who doubt it, calling for continued collective effort to achieve lasting prosperity and national renewal.
He concluded by urging citizens to support the Prosperity Party, stating: “To realize Ethiopia’s renaissance and secure lasting prosperity, choose Prosperity.”
The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the party’s symbol—the wheat sheaf—represents unity, hard work, abundance, and sovereignty.
The remarks come as hundreds of thousands of supporters continue to take part in nationwide Prosperity Party campaign rallies across multiple cities and regions, including major urban centers and regional towns, expressing support for the party’s platform ahead of the upcoming 7th general elections.
