Registered Voters Near 37 Million Ahead of Ethiopia’s 7th General Election

Addis Ababa, April 5, 2026 (FMC) — The number of citizens registered to vote in Ethiopia’s upcoming 7th general election has reached 36,971,981, according to the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).

Voter registration, which commenced on March 7, 2026, has been conducted through both digital and manual modalities, enabling broader public participation.

Data released by the Board indicates that of the total registered voters, 16,849,654 are women, while 20,122,327 are men.

The figures also show that 72,451 women and 76,609 men with disabilities have been registered during the ongoing process.

The NEBE stated that voter registration activities continue as preparations advance for the general election scheduled for June 1.
