Russian Military Transport Plane Crashes in Crimea, 29 Dead

Addis Ababa, April 1, 2026 (FMC) — A Russian An‑26 military transport aircraft crashed over the Crimean Peninsula on the evening of March 31, killing all 29 people on board, including 23 passengers and six crew members, RT reported, citing the Russian Defence Ministry.

Officials reported that the aircraft was on a routine flight when contact was lost. Search teams later located the wreckage, confirming there were no survivors. Preliminary findings indicate a technical malfunction as the likely cause.

According to the report, a military commission has been dispatched to investigate.
