The three-day summit, running from November 5 to 7 at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum, will be held under the theme,
“Governing for Growth: Political Parties as Architects of Africa’s Economic Future.” It is organised by the Prosperity Party in collaboration with the Africa Governance Centre, building on the inaugural gathering held in Accra, Ghana, in 2025.
Briefing journalists today, Prosperity Party International Relations Director General Nebiyu Sihul said the gathering would bring together heads of state, prime ministers, senior government officials, around 80 senior parliamentarians and ministers, political party leaders, business executives, civil society representatives, and women and youth leaders.
He identified Ethiopia’s institutional capacity, diplomatic role and historical significance as key factors behind its selection to host the continental gathering.
Addis Ababa’s standing as a major centre for regional, continental and international meetings, alongside its capacity to accommodate large-scale events, further reinforced the choice, he said.
The Adwa Victory Memorial Museum offers a particularly meaningful setting for the summit, reflecting Ethiopia’s historic contribution to African independence, unity and resilience.
Nebiyu also highlighted the country’s role in advancing Pan-African unity and continental integration, as well as its progress in infrastructure and energy development, economic modernization, urban transformation and tourism.
The summit seeks to broaden the role of political parties beyond electoral competition and strengthen their contribution to long-term economic development.
Discussions will address policy coordination, inter-party dialogue and accountable governance, with delegates also expected to consider establishing a permanent platform for economic policy dialogue among African political parties.
Technical working groups will focus on fiscal governance, youth employment, industrialisation and economic resilience.
Dedicated forums on African women’s political leadership and youth participation will further broaden the discussions, while field visits will allow delegates to observe selected Ethiopian development and infrastructure projects.
The Prosperity Party also intends to present Ethiopia’s experiences in economic modernization, urban development and energy infrastructure as practical contributions to the exchange of development approaches among African political actors.
The proposed Addis Ababa Declaration, expected to emerge from the summit, will provide a policy framework for aligning economic priorities across the continent. The gathering thus seeks to strengthen the role of political parties in shaping Africa’s economic future and translating continental aspirations into coordinated action.
