UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed Arrives in Addis Ababa for Working Visit

Addis Ababa, October 8, 2026 (FMC) — United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed has arrived in Addis Ababa for a working visit, with discussions expected to focus on shared priorities and further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Ethiopia and the United Nations.

State Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye welcomed the UN Deputy Secretary-General upon her arrival at Bole International Airport.

During her stay, Ethiopia and the United Nations are expected to engage on shared priorities, with the visit also providing an opportunity to further deepen their longstanding partnership.

The visit comes as Addis Ababa remains a key diplomatic hub for the United Nations system in Africa and hosts the headquarters of the African Union, providing an important setting for engagement on regional and continental priorities.
