UNFSS+4: Comoros President, Saudi, Brazilian, and Congolese Ministers Arrive in Addis

Addis Ababa, July 27, 2025 (FMC) — The President of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, along with senior ministers from Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, arrived in Addis Ababa this evening to participate in the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4).

The summit, co-hosted by Ethiopia and Italy, is set to convene global leaders, policymakers, and experts from July 28 to 30, 2025, to assess progress and accelerate action on transforming food systems for sustainable development.

President Azali Assoumani was joined by Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Wellington Dias, Minister of Development and Social Assistance of the Federative Republic of Brazil; and Gregoire Mutshail Mutomb Kangaji, State Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The dignitaries were warmly received upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport by senior Ethiopian government officials. Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alemu Seme, welcomed the Comorian President, while Deputy Minister of Defense, Thomas Tut Puk, received the Saudi Minister.

State Minister of Transport and Logistics, Denge Boru, and State Minister of Justice, Belayihun Yirga, welcomed the ministers from Brazil and the DRC, respectively.

Ethiopia’s hosting of UNFSS+4 highlights its growing leadership in global food system transformation and its commitment to inclusive and climate-resilient agricultural development.
