Addis Ababa, August 4, 2025 (FMC) — Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh has affirmed that the ongoing development of urban and rural corridor projects is playing a vital role in improving the livelihoods of Ethiopian citizens by creating more livable and accessible environments.
He delivered the remarks during the inauguration of the newly completed Entoto–Arat Kilo corridor in Addis Ababa on Sunday. The event was attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and members of the Prosperity Party Council.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the corridor development initiative is not only enhancing the aesthetic appeal of cities but also contributing to better living and working conditions for residents. He cited infrastructure upgrades in areas such as Shiro Meda, Kasanchis, and Piazza as tangible outcomes of the capital’s transformation efforts.
Temesgen attributed the success of the projects to the leadership and close follow-up of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and underscored that similar undertakings are being replicated across regional cities.
He reiterated the Prosperity Party’s commitment to inclusive, people-centered urban development, highlighting the Addis Ababa corridor as a prime example of infrastructure designed to address the everyday needs of citizens. The upgraded corridor, he said, has significantly improved mobility for both pedestrians and motorists, allowing for more efficient daily routines.
Prior to the official inauguration, members of the Prosperity Party Council toured the corridor, which includes dedicated lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, modern lighting, commercial spaces, children’s playgrounds, a football field, and various public service amenities.
Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen also emphasized that corridor projects focused on rural areas are progressing in parallel, aimed at ensuring equitable access to infrastructure and public services across the country.
