Addis Ababa, July 2, 2026 (FMC) — Zimbabwe’s ruling Zimbabwe African National Union–Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF) has sent a congratulatory message to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, the ruling Prosperity Party, and the Ethiopian people following the conclusion of Ethiopia’s 7th general elections.
In its message, ZANU–PF commended the successful conduct of the elections, describing them as a milestone in Ethiopia’s democratic process that reflects the country’s commitment to peace, stability, and the sovereign will of its people.
The party stated that the outcome of the elections demonstrates the confidence of the Ethiopian people in the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the Prosperity Party, particularly their vision for inclusive development, national unity, and regional integration.
ZANU–PF also highlighted the longstanding relations between Ethiopia and Zimbabwe, as well as between the two ruling parties, describing Ethiopia as a key partner in Africa’s pursuit of self-determination and economic independence.
It further noted that the successful completion of the elections would strengthen Pan-African solidarity and contribute to the advancement of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
The statement concluded that the two countries will continue to work together to promote prosperity, unity, and the dignity of their peoples, while reaffirming ZANU–PF’s commitment to strengthening bilateral and party-to-party relations.
