Brazil hosts dialogue with Africa on the fight against hunger

Addis Ababa, May 20, 2025 (FMC) – The Second Brazil-Africa Dialogue, which will run until Thursday, kicked off today in the Brazilian capital Brasilia, focusing on food security, the fight against hunger, inequality, and rural development.

Official sources indicated that the talks will reflect Brazil’s foreign policy priority of strengthening relations with African countries, guided by shared values ​​and cooperation based on solidarity and mutual respect.

Officially opened today by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the meeting will promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences to contribute to strengthening food production in African countries.

The main objectives of the meeting include initiatives such as the exchange of knowledge and technologies and the debate on the role of successful policies in combating hunger and poverty, with actions such as the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) and the National School Feeding Program (PNAE).

The dialogue also aims to establish new opportunities for technical cooperation between Brazil and African countries, with a focus on rural development and food security.

The event’s agenda includes bilateral meetings between Brazilian and African delegations to strengthen partnerships and expand technical and institutional cooperation.

The first edition of the Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Security, Fighting Hunger, and Rural Development was held in 2010.
