Citywide corridor and riverside projects reflect Ethiopia’s spirit and progress, Mayor affirms

Addis Ababa, August 10, 2025 (FMC) — Mayor Adanech Abebe announced the successful completion of a landmark project that stands as a source of pride for Addis Ababa.

Yesterday, the Addis Ababa City Administration held a recognition and appreciation ceremony honoring all individuals who contributed to the redevelopment of Piazza, the 4 Kilo-Entoto corridor, the Gulele Botanical Center corridor, and the Entoto-Friendship Square-Peacock Park riverbank revitalization.

The event was graced by Mayor Adanech Abebe, Addis Ababa City Administration Council Speaker Buzena Al Kedir, and other senior city officials.

In her remarks, Mayor Adanech expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in these transformative urban projects. She emphasized that the revitalization efforts in Piazza, the corridors linking 4 Kilo to Entoto and the Gulele Botanical Center, as well as the riverbank development between Entoto, Friendship Square, and Peacock Park, exemplify the profound truth that a nation is built by the dedication and efforts of its own people.

Describing the corridor developments as a truly inspiring endeavor, the Mayor noted that these projects have brought tangible relief and enhanced the quality of life for countless residents.

She praised the hands behind the success of the construction, underscoring that what is being built represents not only physical infrastructure but also the collective dignity and shared future of the nation.

Looking ahead, Mayor Adanech expressed confidence that these achievements will stand as a proud legacy for future generations and all patriotic Ethiopians.

She further highlighted that the developments were completed within a remarkably short timeframe, thanks to the expertise and commitment of Ethiopian professionals serving as designers, architects, leaders, and coordinators.

Deputy Mayor Jemalu Jember (PhD), Head of the Public Service and Human Resources Development Bureau, remarked that the corridor development is transforming both the city’s appearance and the lifestyle of its residents.

He pointed out that the area stretching from Arat Kilo to Shromeda, despite housing numerous institutions, had long lacked developments befitting its significance.

He added that the ongoing construction is contextually appropriate and tailored to the locality.

Moreover, Deputy Mayor Jemalu emphasized that the corridor project has been implemented in a manner that fosters sustainable employment opportunities for the community.
