Deputy PM credits governance, citizens’ efforts, and reform for Bahir Dar’s recent growth
Addis Ababa, July 22, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Temesgen Tiruneh has attributed Bahir Dar’s ongoing transformation to effective regional leadership, active public participation, and institutional reform.
In a message shared on social media, the Deputy Prime Minister praised the rapid development taking place across the city, highlighting improved road corridors and upgraded urban infrastructure as key indicators of progress.
He noted that the socio-economic vibrancy around Lake Tana is growing steadily, driven by the commitment of residents who are working tirelessly to support the city’s expansion. Recent enhancements to the lake’s coastline—including landscaped public spaces and revitalized open-air bathing areas—have added to the city’s appeal and improved quality of life for residents.
“Extensive road infrastructure projects are underway to keep pace with Bahir Dar’s growth,” Mr. Temesgen stated, describing the city’s shift toward a more modern, accessible, and sustainable urban experience.
He also pointed to ongoing changes within the Amhara Regional Police Commission as a reflection of Bahir Dar’s broader transformation. Progress in areas such as human resource development, technological modernization, and office renovation, he said, underscores a strong commitment to institutional excellence.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need to preserve and build on current achievements, calling for continued cooperation to shape Bahir Dar into a model city for the region and beyond.
