Deputy PM emphasizes delivery and measurable results as core principles of the ruling Prosperity Party governance
Addis Ababa, February 2, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh on Monday underscored that delivery and measurable results form the cornerstone of the Prosperity Party’s governance approach, calling on institutions under the Prime Minister’s supervision to implement policies with visible, tangible impact.
The statement came during a comprehensive mid-year performance review covering the first half of the 2018 Ethiopian fiscal year. Institutions directly accountable to the Prime Minister presented their results for evaluation and received guidance aimed at strengthening coordination, effectiveness, and impact.
The review process, Temesgen said, is central to a governance system built on accountability, learning, and results.
Deputy PM Temesgen emphasized that the Prosperity Party’s vision does not tolerate delays or ambiguity. “What matters is delivery. Promises must be implemented, and outcomes must be visible, measurable, and beneficial to citizens,” he said, rejecting statements such as “I am working on it” or “I am in the process.”
He highlighted that sustained reform efforts are producing tangible outcomes nationwide, with disciplined institutions and responsible leadership driving national transformation. Historic achievements include the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and the launch of major infrastructure projects, such as Bishoftu International Airport, fuel and fertilizer production facilities, and other initiatives that strengthen economic sovereignty and national resilience.
More recently, the Shebele Resort and Aysha-2 Wind Power Plant were inaugurated, while roads, bridges, dams, and housing developments continue to progress, demonstrating the government’s ability to implement projects with speed and purpose.
During the mid-year review, performance was evaluated objectively, with achievements recognized, shortcomings addressed, and institutions challenged to correct weaknesses. Discussions also identified practical solutions and forward-looking strategies to accelerate implementation in the remaining months of the fiscal year.
Temesgen concluded that the progress achieved so far inspires confidence for the rest of the year. “Institutions are expected to deliver stronger outcomes, deepen the impact of reforms, and advance the Prosperity Party’s vision of a united, prosperous, and resilient Ethiopia,” he said.
