Deputy PM Emphasizes Rural Corridor Development as Key to Expanding Inclusive Growth and Modernization Across Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, March 25, 2026 (FMC) — Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh has emphasized rural corridor development as a central approach to expanding inclusive growth and modernization across Ethiopia, following his visit to development sites in Gondar city of the Amhara region.
In a social media post shared today, Mr. Temesgen highlighted ongoing efforts to extend development beyond urban centers into rural communities, noting that such initiatives are enabling broader access to essential services and improved living standards.
During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister inspected and inaugurated rural corridor model homes in Senay Sabi kebele, describing the initiative as a practical realization of efforts to bring modernization, services, and opportunities to underserved areas.
He indicated that within a short period, the development has resulted in the establishment of a model village providing access to healthcare, electricity, and clean water, addressing long-standing service gaps in the area.
Mr. Temesgen also underscored the role of community participation in the project, noting that farmers were actively involved in constructing the homes by combining local materials with modern engineering approaches.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the housing model introduces improved living conditions by separating human living spaces from animal shelters, contributing to healthier and more organized environments.
He further noted that the rural corridor initiative places communities at the center of development, enabling them to actively participate in and benefit from ongoing economic and social transformation.
Mr. Temesgen added that the developments observed in Gondar reflect a broader national direction in which progress is being shared across both urban and rural areas.
