Deputy PM Temesgen visits several companies in Brazil

Addis Ababa, May 24, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia and Brazil have identified key areas of cooperation in aviation, technology, and professional capacity building, according to Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh.

Temesgen, who is in Brazil for the Second Brazil–Africa Dialogue, shared updates from his engagements in São Paulo, where he visited major industrial and innovation sites alongside members of his delegation.

“We visited several companies in São Paulo, Brazil, and held productive discussions,” he stated. “One of our key visits was to Embraer, a leading manufacturer of commercial, military, and agricultural aircraft.”

He noted that Embraer expressed “a strong interest in collaborating with institutions in Ethiopia’s aviation sector.”

The Deputy Prime Minister also visited the São José dos Campos Technology Innovation Park, a major Brazilian hub for aerospace and high-tech startups. “The park supports start-ups and promotes innovative projects in the aerospace and technology sectors,” he said.

Temesgen highlighted Ethiopia’s ambition to expand its innovation capacity through international partnerships. “Ethiopia, which is advancing its digital transformation through initiatives like the Digital Ethiopia exhibition, is committed to partnering with similar institutions to drive innovation and technology-led development,” he affirmed.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, officials at the innovation park praised Ethiopia’s focus on technology and innovation. “We agreed on key areas of cooperation to support Ethiopia’s ongoing technological transformation and efforts in professional capacity building,” he added.

Temesgen’s visit forms part of broader efforts to deepen Ethiopia–Brazil bilateral cooperation, particularly in sectors aligned with Ethiopia’s national development priorities.
