DPM Temesgen says Big Win Philanthropy’s interventions align with Ethiopia’s dev’t priorities

Addis Ababa, January 17, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh said Big Win Philanthropy’s focus on evidence-based, high-impact interventions closely aligns with Ethiopia’s national development priorities, underscoring the importance of strengthened partnerships to advance outcomes for children, youth, and vulnerable communities.

In a social media post shared on Friday, the Deputy Prime Minister said he held discussions with Dr. Kestebrehan Admasu, Chief Executive Officer of Big Win Philanthropy, describing the talks as productive and substantive.

He said Big Win Philanthropy has been implementing impactful programs in Ethiopia across key sectors, including agriculture, technology, education, health, job creation, and poverty reduction.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the discussions reviewed the ongoing implementation of the Sekota Declaration, alongside other development initiatives currently underway. The two sides also exchanged views on efforts to scale the Addis Ababa experience to regional states through the First 1,000 Days Scale-Up Program.

The talks further covered the Digital Mindset Expansion project, which forms part of the third youth job creation initiative and has already begun implementation in the Amhara Region.

The Deputy Prime Minister said both sides reached a shared understanding to further strengthen and elevate their partnership in the coming period, building on existing areas of cooperation while exploring new sectors of mutual interest.

He noted that the partnership aims to accelerate progress toward a healthier, more educated, and more prosperous Ethiopia, with particular focus on children, youth, and the most vulnerable segments of society.
