ENDF Museum Serves as Living Chronicle of Ethiopia’s Military Valor: Deputy PM Temesgen
Addis Ababa, March 7, 2026 (FMC) – The Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) Museum stands as a living chronicle of heroism and a powerful testament to the nation’s enduring greatness, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh has said.
Following his visit to the Ethiopian Defense Forces Museum located in the Janmeda area on Friday, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that Ethiopia’s resilience—shaped through centuries of trials and challenges—rests firmly on the unwavering courage and sacrifices of its armed forces.

“During our visit to the Ethiopian Defense Forces Museum in the Janmeda area, we witnessed compelling and vivid portrayals of this historic journey of bravery spanning generations,” he noted.
The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the idea of establishing the museum was first conceived in the 1950s but had long remained unrealized due to prevailing political circumstances. He added that the project has now been completed under the reform-oriented administration that ushered in a new phase of national renewal.
According to him, the institution is now operating as a permanent museum and will serve as the foundation for the future Grand National Defense Forces Museum.
The museum’s exhibits—ranging from rare weapons predating the Battle of Adwa and armor from the imperial period to contemporary military artifacts—present a compelling account of the heroic legacy of Ethiopia’s defenders.

He further noted that the museum documents the development of Ethiopia’s national defense institutions since 1900 E.C., highlighting the gradual evolution of military technology and the engineering advancements that underpin the country’s present-day defense capabilities.
Beyond preserving historical artifacts, the center also serves as a place of learning that provides members of the armed forces and future generations with historical insight, knowledge, and inspiration.
Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen also emphasized that the Ethiopian Defense Forces remain a source of national pride, describing them as a peacekeeping force whose reputation commands respect well beyond the country’s borders.
He stressed that the government will continue supporting initiatives aimed at preserving and presenting the nation’s heroic legacy in modern and accessible ways, ensuring that the achievements shaping Ethiopia’s national identity are properly safeguarded and shared.
“Ethiopia remembers. Ethiopia honors. Ethiopia builds upon its heroic legacy—stronger together and forever vigilant,” the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed.
