ENDF Special Operations Command Unveils New Emblem
Addis Ababa, February 20, 2026 (FMC) — The Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) Special Operations Command today unveiled its new emblem in the presence of Chief of Staff Field Marshal Berhanu Jula.
The unveiling took place as part of activities marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Special Operations Command, which is being observed through a series of ceremonies.
Speaking on the occasion, Commander of the Special Operations Command, Lieutenant General Shuma Abdetta, said the newly introduced crest represents the Command’s shared mission and collective spirit. He noted that the emblem reflects the Command’s resolve, preparedness, and inner strength.
The Commander added that, beyond serving as an official insignia, the crest stands as a historical record of the Command’s legacy and a source of inspiration for its members.
In addition to the emblem unveiling, a book chronicling the Command’s journey and years of service was officially launched.
The anniversary observances will continue over the coming three days with various programs. Earlier, a 10-kilometer road race was organized to commemorate the foundation of the Command.
