Chief Executive Officer Ms. Frehiwot Tamiru presented the company’s annual performance in a briefing held in Addis Ababa, attributing the strong results to expanded services, rising digital adoption, and improved infrastructure. The revenue increase translates to an additional 68.3 billion birr over last year’s earnings, while the company also posted a net profit of 76 billion birr, exceeding its plan by 4%.

Ethio Telecom’s customer base grew by 6.2%, with overall population coverage reaching 99.4%. A total of 365 products and services were offered during the year—134 newly introduced and 157 upgraded.

The number of registered TeleBirr users has surged to 54.8 million, contributing significantly to Ethiopia’s growing digital economy.

In support of the national “Digital Ethiopia” agenda, the CEO highlighted several key infrastructure developments during the year. These include the rollout of 4G services to 512 towns and 5G services to 16 major cities, as well as the installation of 1,683 new mobile sites to improve network speed and capacity.

Frehiwot also emphasized Ethio Telecom’s commitment to expanding internet access in rural areas, with broadband services extended to 2,388 kebeles, reaching 5.9 million new users during the year. The company has also strengthened its cybersecurity framework, successfully fending off 462,000 attempted cyberattacks in the reporting period.
