Ethiopia and Somalia Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Regional Stability and Development

Addis Ababa, September 10, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) met today with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at his office in Addis Ababa to discuss shared regional priorities.

According to a post on the Ethiopian Prime Minister’s official social media account, the leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for peace and progress.

During the meeting, PM Abiy and President Hassan reaffirmed their commitment to fostering stability, security, and sustainable development across the Horn of Africa region.

During his four-day stay in Ethiopia, President Hassan participated in the opening of the ongoing Second Africa Climate Summit on Monday, September 8, joining PM Abiy and other fellow African leaders. He also accompanied them to Guba on Tuesday, September 9, for the grand inauguration of Africa’s largest hydroelectric dam, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
