Ethiopia and Uganda Reaffirm Strategic Partnership During High-Level Foreign Affairs Meeting
Addis Ababa, February 10, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, today received Okello Oryem, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, at his office in Addis Ababa.
During the meeting, Minister Gedion highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Ethiopia and Uganda, emphasizing their longstanding partnership and the critical role both countries play in promoting regional peace and stability. He also stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest to deliver tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations.
State Minister Okello Oryem echoed Ethiopia’s position, noting that both countries hold key roles in the region and maintain a robust relationship at the highest leadership level. He reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to deepening multifaceted cooperation with Ethiopia.
The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and continental peace and security matters, underlining their shared commitment to advancing stability and sustainable development across Africa.
