Ethiopia, China Discuss Strengthening Cultural Cooperation under Strategic Partnership
Addis Ababa, June 23, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia and China convened in Beijing to explore ways to strengthen cultural cooperation within the framework of their All‑Weather Strategic Partnership, the Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing told Fana Media Corporation this afternoon.
Ethiopia’s Ambassador to China, Tefera Derbew Yimam, met with Ms. Xu Rong, Director General of the Bureau of International Exchanges and Cooperation at China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, to discuss advancing the 2024–2026 Ethiopia–China Cultural Cooperation Plan.
The Embassy revealed that the discussions centered on advancing the implementation of the Ethiopia-China Cultural Cooperation Plan for 2024–2026.
The two dignitaries also further discussed ways of strengthening people-to-people ties within the framework of the two nations’ All-Weather Strategic Partnership
It is noteworthy that Ethiopia and China elevated their relationship to an All‑Weather Strategic Cooperation Partnership in October 2023 during Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s official visit to Beijing, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The elevation marked a new phase in bilateral relations, reflecting both countries’ commitment to sustained cooperation across all conditions—favorable or challenging—and expanded collaboration in trade, infrastructure, peace and security, and cultural exchange under the Belt and Road Initiative framework.
