Ethiopia, Cuba sign MoUs to collaborate in technology and sports

Addis Ababa, March 13, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia and Cuba have signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to collaborate in technology and sports development at a ceremony held today at the Skylight Hotel.

The signing ceremony was presided by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, alongside the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Eduardo Rodriguez Parrilla, who arrived in Addis Ababa yesterday for an official visit.

The MoU on technological cooperation was co-signed by Ethiopia’s Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla, and Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Ethiopia, Meylin Suárez Álvarez.

According to the Ethiopian foreign ministry, the MoU on sports development was co-signed by Ethiopia’s Minister of Culture and Sports, Ms. Shewit Shanka, and the Cuban Foreign Minister.

During the signing ceremony, State Minister Ambassador Mesganu emphasized the longstanding bilateral relations grounded in mutual respect, stating that the signing of the MoUs is a testament to strengthening these cordial ties.

He also noted the importance of enhancing cooperation in multilateral forums.

In his remarks, Bruno Eduardo Rodriguez Parrilla noted the deep-rooted ties between Ethiopia and Cuba across various fields and expressed his country’s keenness to explore further opportunities for collaboration.
