Ethiopia-EU Investment Forum Kicks Off in Paris, Highlighting Growing Economic Partnership
Addis Ababa, November 3, 2025 (FMC) — The EU–Ethiopia Investment Forum opened today in Paris, convening senior Ethiopian officials, European investors, and business leaders to explore new investment opportunities and deepen economic cooperation between Ethiopia and the European Union.
The opening session featured remarks from Gedion Timothewos, Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Fabrice Le Saché, Vice President of MEDEF International, alongside keynote addresses by Nicolas Forissier, France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, and Geza Strammer, Acting Director for Africa at the European Commission.
Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, presented an overview of ongoing macroeconomic reforms aimed at attracting private investment and strengthening the country’s integration into the global economy.
Speakers highlighted the growing momentum in EU–Ethiopia economic relations, applauding Ethiopia’s progress toward World Trade Organization (WTO) accession and its efforts to enhance public–private dialogue to improve the investment climate.
The Forum showcased investment opportunities across key sectors, including sustainable agribusiness, renewable energy, digital transformation, and infrastructure development. Discussions emphasized the role of the EU’s Global Gateway Strategy in mobilizing European investment to support Ethiopia’s economic transformation and sustainable growth.
Serving as a strategic platform, the EU–Ethiopia Investment Forum aims to strengthen partnerships between Ethiopian institutions and European enterprises, fostering innovation, value addition, and shared prosperity.
