Ethiopia Explores Development and Multilateral Collaboration with Morocco and Lesotho

Addis Ababa, February 11, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos held bilateral discussions with his counterparts from the Kingdom of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, and the Kingdom of Lesotho, Lejone Mpotjoane, on the margins of the 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union.

In his meeting with Morocco’s Foreign Minister, Gedion focused on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation within multilateral platforms.

Both sides agreed to convene the next session of the Joint Ministerial Commission as a mechanism to further strengthen their partnership.

During discussions with the Foreign Minister of Lesotho, Gedion emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations and highlighted Ethiopia’s readiness to share its experience in sectors where it has achieved notable progress.

Minister Mpotjoane expressed his country’s interest in learning from Ethiopia’s experience in agriculture, health, and tourism.

He also commended the ongoing corridor development projects in Addis Ababa.

The two ministers exchanged views on both bilateral and continental issues of mutual interest.
