Ethiopia invites AU Summit participants to tap reform-driven investment opportunities
Addis Ababa, February 13, 2026 (FMC) – The Office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia has called on leaders, investors and international partners attending the African Union Summit 2026 to seize the country’s vast investment opportunities, underscoring the East African nation’s reform-driven and investor-first economic environment.
In a message shared on social media on Thursday, the Prime Minister’s Office stated that Ethiopia’s Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda has established a transparent foreign direct investment framework, supported by modern Special Economic Zones and improved access to African and global markets.
The PM Office highlighted Ethiopia’s seamless trade connectivity through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), positioning investors to tap into continental and international value chains.
According to the statement, Ethiopia’s growth trajectory is anchored in sustainability-focused leadership and powered by major infrastructure projects, including the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). It noted that more than 98 percent of the country’s electricity generation comes from renewable energy sources.
The message further emphasized expanding digital infrastructure, enhanced telecommunications services, and a skilled workforce capable of delivering sustainable returns across priority sectors such as agritech, manufacturing, fintech, e-commerce, mining and related industries.
The Prime Minister’s Office stressed that these sectors are strengthening regional value chains and contributing to Africa’s shared prosperity.
Heads of state and government from across the continent, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, the President of the African Development Bank Sidi Ould Tah, delegations from non-African countries and representatives of other international governments and multilateral organizations are in Addis Ababa for the African Union Summit 2026 and the 2nd Italy-Africa Summit, reflecting the wide global participation in the two major diplomatic gatherings.
