Ethiopia Participates in AU Peace and Security Council Field Mission to Guinea
Addis Ababa, May 31, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia is taking part in the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) field mission to the Republic of Guinea, which is being conducted from May 30 to 31, 2025.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the mission aims to promote peace, security, and stability across the continent and to support Guinea’s ongoing political transition.
The AUPSC field visit is providing an opportunity for member states to engage directly with Guinean authorities, assess the progress of the country’s transition to constitutional order, and explore enhanced coordination of peacebuilding efforts at both regional and continental levels.
The Council is holding consultations with key Guinean stakeholders. Member states have welcomed the Guinean authorities’ commitment to dialogue and acknowledged recent positive political developments in the country.
They also underscored the importance of continued collaboration between Guinea, the African Union, and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to ensure a peaceful, inclusive, and timely transition process.
Ethiopia is represented in the field mission by Ambassador Nebiyu Tedla, Deputy Permanent Representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
