Ethiopia Reaffirms Commitment to Social Justice and Decent Work at ILO Governing Body

Addis Ababa, November 19, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia has reaffirmed its commitment to social justice, decent work, and inclusive labor governance at the 355th Session of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Governing Body, which opened on November 17 and will continue through November 27, 2025.

Represented by its Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva, Ethiopia engaged actively in discussions alongside governments, employers, and workers from member states, shaping global labor priorities and guiding the ILO’s work.

Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the UN and Other International Organizations in Geneva, Tsegab Kebebew, highlighted the importance of the ILO’s ongoing reform agenda.

He emphasized Ethiopia’s support for a transparent, inclusive, and balanced process designed to strengthen the ILO’s mandate and ensure it delivers effectively on social justice and decent work for all.

Meeting three times a year, the ILO Governing Body plays a central role in setting the agency’s policies and program priorities.

Ethiopia currently serves as a deputy member of the body, reflecting the country’s active role in advancing international labor standards and promoting fair employment practices, the Permanent Mission told Fana Media Corporation.

Through its engagement, Ethiopia continues to demonstrate its dedication to strengthening labor governance, fostering inclusive economic growth, and supporting initiatives that protect workers’ rights worldwide.
