Ethiopia reaffirms commitment to strengthen ties with Qatar for mutual benefit & regional stability
Addis Ababa, April 5, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia has reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening its partnership with Qatar to advance mutual benefits and promote regional stability.
The pledge was made by Adem Farah, Head of the Coordination Center for Democracy Building with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of the ruling Prosperity Party, during talks with Saad Mubarak Al Naimi in Addis Ababa.

The two sides held extensive discussions on ways to further strengthen the longstanding and strategic relations between Ethiopia and Qatar, with a particular focus on expanding investment and advancing development cooperation for mutual benefit.
During the meeting, Adem Farah outlined the wide-ranging development initiatives currently underway in Ethiopia under the leadership of the Prosperity Party, highlighting the progress achieved across multiple sectors. He underscored the role of key national transformation programs—including corridor development, efforts to enhance agricultural productivity, and green development initiatives—in driving the country’s path toward prosperity.
He also expressed appreciation for the support extended by the Qatari government across various sectors and reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to promoting large-scale investment and strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
In addition, Adem Farah noted that the Prosperity Party is working to ensure that the country’s upcoming seventh general election is conducted in a peaceful, democratic, and fair manner. He further emphasized Ethiopia’s determination to deepen its friendship with Qatar in a way that serves the shared interests of both nations and contributes to regional stability.
For his part, Ambassador Saad Mubarak Al Naimi commended the progress achieved in Ethiopia’s development sectors, noting that the results recorded in recent years are impressive. He particularly highlighted the impact of comprehensive macroeconomic reforms, which he said have helped create a more transparent and conducive investment environment.
The ambassador added that development activities he observed during visits to different parts of the country are delivering tangible benefits to communities. He also indicated that he had engaged with the Qatari Shura Council on ways to further strengthen institutional relations with Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party and the FDRE House of Federation.
