Ethiopia reiterates commitment to foster business opportunities throughout the region
Addis Ababa, January 21, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, Kassahun Gofe (PhD), reiterated his government’s commitment in fostering business opportunities throughout the Horn of Africa region.
The Minister made this remarks at the on going Business Boosting Conference: Ethiopia-Djibouti Corridor, which kicked off this morning in Addis Ababa. Being held from 21st to 22nd 2025, the Conference is being held under the theme “Strengthening Regional Business Cooperation – Serving beyong the Ethiopia-Djibouti Corridor”
Organized by Ethio Logistics Sectorial Association (ELSA), the event aims to strengthen Ethiopia’s trade and investment ties with Djibouti, address trade barriers in alignment with the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), and set up a framework.
In his remarks, Mr. Kasahun emphasized the importance of enhancing his country’s trade and investment relations with Djibouti, highlighting the Ethiopian government’s commitment to fostering business opportunities throughout the HOA region.
“Our longstanding collaboration and ongoing infrastructure initiatives, unlocks new avenues for mutual growth,” he underscored, disclosing that the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) is working to dismantle trade barriers in line with AfCFTA to establish a framework for enhanced collaboration.
Emphasizing Ethiopia’s focus on diversifying trade through manufacturing and agriculture, Kassahun acknowledged Djibouti’s strategic maritime position as a key asset for export opportunities.
